Egg problems

I'm loading more, hopefully they are better. I hate how open this house is sometimes....like in the winter or when you try to take a pic without light.....

Okay, here's two.

In the first pic, the spot I think you are referring to is the flash or background light. The real spot is over to the left and down a little. It's a tiny dot. In the second, it's to the right and down a little.

Here's what I've been using for comparison

This is from my silkie pen and I've hatched from these guys. The turkey eggs look nothing like this. I was just wondering why not

They get the occasional table scraps & dog food they may steal from the pup, they have access to oyster shells, whole corn now and then they may steal from the cows, scratch feed sometimes but not a lot, and possibly cat food from the cats.

There's no shade around here except for under buildings so yeah, they get plenty of sun

I think they were fed only whole corn before we got them. That's what he brought out to get them to go into our cages to be loaded up. We've had them for a while now though.

The reason I asked about the light was if they don't get enough it can make the tom loose potency. If they are eating alot of corn that could be your problem. Corn is low in protien. You can raise the protein level and see what that does. Make they only eat the the feed you give them and you can get a couple bags of chick starter or better yet game bird starter. Chick is 20%, game bird is 28% protien. Mix that 50-50 with your layer pellets. Our you can boil back eggs and feed them that, some people feed cat food as well. Either way still give them the layer pellets, they need the calcium. If it's the feed you should get fertile eggs in about 2 weeks.

If that doesn't work it could be the tom himself.

When we first converted the coop and run, we didn't let them out in the evenings. We've only been letting them out now for about 3 days. They were out before quite a bit. When we had them confined to the coop and run (about a week to 2 weeks), all they were getting was layer pellets. I'm thinking it's the tom as the guy we got them from said he'd never had any of the eggs hatch that he'd tried to set. Hate it, this tom's extremely friendly. We'll give him his 4th shot though and keep them up for awhile to see if that helps.

Thanks and I'll let you know!
