egg production and molt.

hey there. i've come here to seek some ideas about why my chickens aren't laying, actually were laying and then stopped laying eggs.
i have read some posts about molt. can someone tell me about molt. describe it? if that is what is happening would that affect all the birds?? i have 25 laying hens and 2 roosters.
