Egg production drop?

Not sure why......it's pretty important.

I’ve never kept food out to have access all day. I always have with chicks but never thought to do it with adults. I assumed they would eat it all in one sitting. Interesting. May start doing that... do you notice a difference?

Not sure why you'd think that.
They need more that one crop fill a day....
...not like us filling our stomachs at b'fast, lunch, and dinner.
Especially if you have more birds than feed stations,
the pecking order shows that they don't all eat at the same time.

I don’t know if I read it somewhere or assumed it to be quite honest. I throw their feed on the ground in a large general area and they all scratch and eat, but they do free range all day (well except for the last month since I’ve been trying to collect fertilized eggs from a certain rooster).

ETA: I think I assumed it because when they free range they eat ALL day even on top of feeding them their feed and treats throughout the day.
