Egg production?

I'm thinking of buying some more chickens, two to be exact.

A male and a female.

I have a coop ready for them but I'm worried about whether or not they'll mate and lay eggs.

I heard that if they're not comfortable, they won't lay eggs.

When you say "more chickens" I take it that you are adding to your existing flock? Is that where your concern about their potential comfort is coming from?
Hens will often suspend production for a time after a stress such as being moved, being put into a new flock, etc -- but a healthy, productive hen that is receiving good care will return to production. If your birds will be well housed, not overcrowded, are in otherwise good health and receiving appropriate nutrition/hydration and are of the productive age you *should* see eggs.

Well, now that I think about it, that could also be a problem. I'm mostly worried about the fact that they might just not feel comfortable being in a coop.

Maybe post pictures of the coop and current hens (breeds) might be easier to give any advice
