egg question from a new chicken owner

Hi BYCers! Just a quick question, what causes a bunch of hard bumps on one end of an egg? Also is this bad for the chicken?
 
They are most likely calcium deposits. You'll probably find them sometimes and other times not. A couple of mine lay eggs with them and they are okay. Somewhere, there is a great link that says what causes all those little abnormalities...

The reason the eggs you buy in the store all look uniformly shaped and smooth is that they take out all the other ones which are then dried and added to baking mixes etc.
