Egg Question

Very pretty girl.

Looks like an Easter Egger though... not full Ameraucana I don't think.

But if the Male hatched from a dark egg, and since she lays green eggs... yes and females that she produces have a high chance of laying olive eggs
oooooooooo I got her from estes so she might be an easter egger what color would the chicks be?

he is a 1/2 cuckoo maran and 1/2 black copper maran
1/2 cuckoo he got from his father
1/2 black copper from his mother

Huh.... I was plugging stuff into the calculator....

Too many possible variables for me to figure out since I am not sure what genetic are on the female...

Here is the calculator I like to use

http://kippenjungle.nl/Overzicht.htm#kipcalculator

There is also a more complicated (and so more accurate) calculator on that site that let's you type in the genetics that the parents have.

There are also pages that explain all of the genetic color stuff.

Cool info.. but usually I can just keep in my head the stuff that applies to my chickens.

He is easy... he is just plugged in as cuckoo

But yes... her! I am not sure!

She is the one where you would have to read through all of the info, figure out what genetics she is probably carrying, and plug it all in in the more complicated chicken calculator.

As to eggs... those are easier... you say she lays green. If the inside of the egg is a good dark blue, she is probably homozygous for the blue egg gene, so OO. If the inside of her egg is a pale blue, she is probably heterozygous for the blue egg gene, so Oo. Then the outside of the egg... that is where the brown is put... green eggs means she has some brown, but not lots.
