Quote:So i will assume that out of my 18 hens 16 are laying and I have two slackers LOL. Thanks I am getting 16 eggs a day so I guess either somebody don't lay every day or two aren't laying at all.

Depending on the breed, you will get 2-7 eggs a week from one bird. Sooo, it is not unusual at all to get 16 eggs out of 18 chickens. - FYI:)

i read somewhere that 3 hens would average 2 eggs a day.... so if you wanted a steady dozen a day you would want 18 girls.. est...
i've noticed that my leg horn seems to be on a 26 hour cycle... her laying time moves forwrd in the day 2 hours each day untill she doesn't lay one day but ealy the next... they're girls after all.. we're all a little different on our times... and there's the random girl with a crazy cycle....
over all i think you've got a good average there...
