We had a duck that was in the incubator that had not made any progress getting out of the shell in at least 12 or 18 hours. I helped him out and there is shell sticking to his body. Is there any way to get the shell off? What caused this? I hope it was not me helping him out. Any quick help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

I had a day old chick with a quarter sized piece of shell stuck under it's wing. I gently broke it into a couple smaller pieces on the chick and let him/her pick them off. Within an hour or two it was all gone. Good luck!

I had a chick with bits of shell stuck to it too. By the time the chick had dried and fluffed out, most of it brushed right off. I used a moist paper towel to blot at what was left, then put him back in the incubator to dry off again. He looked as clean as all the others!
