We have recently started to notice 1 or more of the chickens producing these eggs. What is the matter with the egg shell? It appears to be getting worse. Any ideas out there?

Seen that. The "funny" eggs. I've been told that it could be signs of stress. Are your chickens possibly a bit overcrowded? I do see that from time to time if I lock all my birds up for a while and they don't get to wander free but have to stay in the pen. Do you also have enough nest boxes for the number of birds that you have? The eggs are fine BTW.

I have 14 girls but there is plenty of room in the hen house. During the day they are free range on 3/4's of an acre. I have 6 nesting boxes (2) of which nobody wants to use. We had a hawk attack and kill about a month ago so we went to the hanging of DVR disks all over the yard so It would really be hard for a hawk to get a straight flight in. We think (knock on wood) we may have cured that problem.

The stress that causes misshaped eggs can also come from being sick or injured. One of my Houdan hens started laying odd eggs like that, but white. The other hens, all Ameraucana mixes, were fine. I picked up the Houdan and checked her, and found cuts on both sides of her back hidden under her feathers. I thought something had tried to bite her, but the vet said more likely a vulture or hawk tried to pick her up and she got away. As her cuts healed, the eggs went back to normal.
