I have 14 girls but there is plenty of room in the hen house. During the day they are free range on 3/4's of an acre. I have 6 nesting boxes (2) of which nobody wants to use. We had a hawk attack and kill about a month ago so we went to the hanging of DVR disks all over the yard so It would really be hard for a hawk to get a straight flight in. We think (knock on wood) we may have cured that problem.Seen that. The "funny" eggs. I've been told that it could be signs of stress. Are your chickens possibly a bit overcrowded? I do see that from time to time if I lock all my birds up for a while and they don't get to wander free but have to stay in the pen. Do you also have enough nest boxes for the number of birds that you have? The eggs are fine BTW.
We have recently started to notice 1 or more of the chickens producing these eggs. What is the matter with the egg shell? It appears to be getting worse. Any ideas out there?View attachment 1748206 View attachment 1748207
thank you for your reply , noticed they are getting better....Those are called 'corrugated' egg shells.
Could be short term stress or long term disease.
Had a couple birds lay them all winter one year, both had mild respiratory symptoms.
