When I was a kid, we had a lot of leghorns and game hens with a few odd ones here and there.

Most of my current hens have been laying since the first of October.

I have 7 barred rocks.

Do Barred Rocks always lay smallish eggs?

Will they get any bigger as they get older?

My RIRs and my red and black sex link all lay good sized eggs, but the EEs (who lay brown) and my partridge and white rock all lay small eggs like the BRs.

My Barred Rock lays pretty good sized eggs that are considered large and she has only been laying for two weeks now. The very first one she laid was a huge double yolker and than there was about 7 small ones and then the rest have been large.

Most eggs start off small and then get a little bigger, depending on what breed you have. Your birds should molt when they are around 18 months old, the eggs will get a little bigger again.

My BR are not laying eggs anywhere near the size of my EE and RIR. In fact, my RIR and EE have the largest eggs and lay 9 out of 10 days of the week. The others, see my siggy line, are no where near as close.
In fact, we talked about getting SLW, but based on the GLW, we will problably be done with the Wyandottes after this - small eggs, slow to lay.
