EGG SONG vs WATCH CHICKEN

My 4 BOs will be 23wks old on Monday, combs/wattles are pink no way RED but now & then I get a very LOUD "egg song"!
No egg but they're all looking in a direction with necks stretched out like an Ostrich! It seems like she's alerting me; once the neighbor's puppies were at the fence, another time the neighbor was talking to someone in their driveway that she could see from the roost, another time the backside neighbor was out long the fence.
Do I have a "Watch" Chicken or is she just practicing her egg song? Sure alot louder than the Wynadottes I had

I didn't know the egg & alert were similar but now I know. I still check out back when I hear her bawking but not rushing to check for eggs Thank you all for clueing me in....

It sounds like you may have a "watch girl" Some are more alert than others - I try to understand their behavior, but there's still so much to learn.

Interestingly, I do have a rooster that patrols his enclosed "kingdom" like a trooper, but if he's dust bathing or if I have him out for some reason, one of the other girls seems to take over "patrol".
