Hi. I just joined this morning because I woke up to the egg song for the first time. No egg but my three girls are extra friendly this morning, all on my lap and on my shoulder. They are 14 and15 weeks old. Should I be expecting eggs soon?

sounds like the lady's are a learning but I bet if you look really close you just might find something even if it is a soft squishy blob that will be the egg .......

Sounds like they are gearing up to start laying! When the combs, faces and wattles are full and red, and they are squatting for you, the eggs should be coming down the pipe soon.

You probably have a few more weeks to go. Around 18 or 19 weeks of age, you can start them on layer feed and oyster shell. If they start to squat earlier, then you can get them on layer at this time.

You might put some fake eggs in your nest boxes so the pullets know where to lay theirs.

Good luck and I hope those eggs start coming soon!

My girls will be 15 weeks tomorrow and I noticed a couple of the RIR were filling out and wattles were growing in a nice rosey red colour my BSL aren't as far as the reds but I noticed a difference in their "song" this morning.

Oh happy egg song morning!!!

Yes, the waiting can kill you, but it will all be worth the waiting once you find that first egg! :)

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

You are not the only one playing that waiting game right now! LOL
