Egg stuck?

My RIR hen hasn't laid in a couple of days and is clucking like mad. I'm thinking she has an egg stuck. Any suggestions?

i had this happen to one of my hens when she was about to lay. massage her chest. that it said to be a good way to have them lay. unfortunately, my hen got eaten before we could do this (

) so i haven't seen a result. hope i helped!!!

I have never had this problem myself, but I do have a book that has never failed me before.

According to the book, massage the hen's belly in the direction that the egg should travel. Placing her under a heat lamp or holding her over steamy water is also said to help. You can try putting vaseline on your finger and inserting it into her vent to try to locate the egg, then rub vaseline on the egg to help it pass. Place vaseline around her vent.

As a last resort, you can break the egg and remove the contents, but that can sometimes hurt your hen.
