I have a motor from incubator warehouse that you can wire to go both directions

. Would I wire this differently? I understand limit switches but the relay stuff is driving me nuts! Thanks for any help.

Thank you for posting this nice schematic
However, by trying to understand how it works I found out that when the timer is ON it has to stay on until the next time to reverse the motor direction. On the next cycle the timer will turn the relay OFF and the motor will rotate on the other direction until it hits the limit switch.

This means if I want the eggs to be turned every 2 hours this means that the timer and relay will stay 2 hours ON and 2 hours OFF

Is this correct.

If not, please explain to me who the circuit will work

Do you think I need to use 2 timers and 2 relays?

Hi Queyen Le, thanks for the great schematics you shared with us! I was having a big headache on putting the motor electronics to work with the DPDT and the limit switches and have finally succeeded thanks to you
I am now wondering if it is possible to add to this circuit some kind of mechanism to "manually" rotate the motor so we can change it's position to reach better the egg trays every time we need to add/remove eggs as it is more comfortable than doing so with the trays inclined.

this is a little more complicated as it has manual buttons as well as auto but it uses the same idea. A electric actuator is draw but it will work with any dc motor.

Micro switches are wired normally closed and the switch is a maintained on/off/on

Hi gpop1, this is what I was looking for as my electronics knowledge is a bit limited I just got a bit confused with the relays. On my circuit I was using only 1 DPDT relay (12v 8A, as my power source is 12v 5A). How many relays do I need now? Are they still dpdt? Can you give me an extra help on the relay wiring?
I was going to use a car window lift motor, but I found an electric actuator from an electric massage chair so I'm thinking on using it as it is slower and stronger.

I used 3 SPDT as they are cheap 12v relays and readably available at any auto parts store. The relays also have 30 amp contact points that can handle higher loads.

It might be possible to add manual buttons to a DPDT relay but it would be complicated as both poles change at the same time.

In theory when you use 2 single pole relays you are technically connecting both sides of the motor to dc negative. When one relay fires then it becomes the positive and the motor turns. On a DPST you are always connected to one positive and one negative wire (broken by the stop button when tilted). When the DPDT reverses power to the motor is reversed which makes it harder to cut in a manual control. This is a very neat and affective way to control a tilt table but it requires heavy duty stop switchs as they are in line with the motor.

Using spdt means the micro switch's are on the control side of the relay rather than the motor side so they only have to carry the amperage required by the relay rather than the motor. The down side is that 3 relays are used to do the same job. The good side is that they are available with prewired bases real cheap on ebay.

If you already have a 110v timer and transformer hooked up like the original drawing that the op posted then I will take a look to see how manual could be added. If you haven't bought a timer yet consider getting a basic 12v cycle timer instead.

I already have a 12v cycle timer (the one on the right), today the timer on the left arrived on the post. I bought it a few weeks ago, before managing to put the limit switches working. As the cycle timer's minimum closed circuit time is 1m (my timer is only 3 digits, so 2 hours can't be input in seconds), I was planning to put a second timer connected to it, to limit the closed circuit time to only a few seconds. Well, it isn't going to be needed any more now, i'll use it later in another project.

I would really appreciate if you would arrange some modifications to my circuit so that a manual mode could be implemented.

I haven't excluded the option of implementing the 3 SPDT's. Can you please post a link to ebay/aliexpress with the suited ones. There are so many relays that I kind of get lost :/
