Egg Wash?????

subscribing.....my hens are about to start laying and I had the same question

You can buy commercial egg wash if you want it. Most hatcheries carry it and places like eggboxes.com and eggcartons.com. Considering how long a bucket of it would last it's pretty cheap.

I use plain old dish detergent myself (Ajax lemon if you really want to know) and hot running water. Works well. I don't ordinarily sanitize my eggs unless I'm going to be hatching them. In that case two tablespoons of plain laundry bleach in a gallon of warm water gets the job done. After the eggs are washed they go into a basket and submerged in the sanitizing solution for one minute then drained.
