I had a BCM hatch last night and he was sitting in the egg still looking slimy as could be! When he got himself out of the shell it looked like there was a puddle of egg white in the bottom of the shell. I never saw this before! Yes, I broke lockdown....last time I had a chick that was covered in something like that he hardened up and even though I bathed him the next day, he didn't make it. So I grabbed this guy out and gave him a warm bath and wiped some of the goo off of him. I dried him a little and put him back into the bator. Added some warm water and humidity was at 60 within a few minutes...65 shortly after. I did remove the egg with the goo in it when I grabbed the baby out. I didn't want the other chick in there somehow spilling it on himself and have two covered in egg white! Ewwwwww He's not as fluffy as the guy that hatched a few minutes before him, but they're both doing good this morning.
Ever see this before? Ever have one all sticky like that live?
