Egg with a tail

This morning I let my girls out to free range and by 3 o clock I was having major issues with my girl Yote. She wouldn't leave the run, she would hardly even move. She then passed an "egg " right in front of me, right in front of the run. She immediately fell asleep after. I made a noise and then she woke up and went In the coop to roost. What on earth is happening?

Could be a one off glitch....could be something more serious.
Keep an eye on her.....check her vent and abdomen for any oddities.
More info is needed.
How old is bird?
How long has she been laying?
What and how exactly are you feeding?

Open that egg up and check inside for any abnormalities. Do an advanced search for egg abnormalities. What is her breed?

When researching worms (I've got a new pullet with round worms), I did read that some worm(s) can get into eggs...just a thought because it looks like one. I can't remember though which type of worm it was that could pass into eggs, but a google search should tell you.

That is NOT a worm.

It is much more likely excess membrane that didn't detach before it reached the shell gland.

When I let them out to free range this morning she was acting like a new woman so I guess it was just a fluke thing.
She's just over 1 year old. She's been laying since December 2015. She gets regular layer pellets available to her all the time and I give them some scratch grains and fruit occasionally. I have 8 chickens total. They are seperated 3 and 5 BC I recently got three more and they still fight so I leave them seperate. They have a safe hen house and a safe run. I let them out in the yard during the day. She hasn't laid and egg yet today.

She's an Isa brown

Those production breeds are prone to reproductive abnormalities.
