Hi everyone,
Just noticed a hen looking under the weather then a few minutes later she laid this. Had plenty of soft shell eggs before but not seen this. Any guidance please? Thank you

Probably an immature ova.
Does she look better after getting that out?
How old, in months, is the bird that laid it?
Did you cut into it at all, looking for more clues?

Thank you both.
She is close to a year and yes! She did look better and tucked into food which surprised me.
Then they went to bed and I left her be so will have a good look at her today.

I did have a good look, it looks like a clear, slightly tinged red yolk. The outer membrane was goopy, not like a soft shell eggs where you can pick it up carefully. So I think it classifies as shell-less.
No worms or parasites can be seen.

They have had worm treatment about, 6 weeks ago. They have recently had a vitamin course. They have supplement calcium and a good diet I would say. There are a few in the flock with a 'cold' but it's not bacterial and they aren't very sick with it.

for now we can say it was an error. if it happens again within the next two weeks, or if the hen seems to be acting sick, then I would see a vet.
