I got 5 hens all about 11 months old. Today & about 2 weeks ago I found where a hen laid just yoke in the nesting box. All the hens are acting normal & seem ok.
Do I have a sick hen?

Thanks!
Jeff

Hens will occasionally lay a shell less egg, they are pretty common in young layers, or hens that have been stressed especially. They often break in the nesting box if they happen to lay it in there. The eggs are usually just a glitch in their system, and nothing to worry about. If you are getting a lot of them, or one hen is laying them consistently you'd want to look into other causes. The poultry site has a list of possible causes. http://www.thepoultrysite.com/publi...ndbook/16/thinshelled-eggs-and-shellless-eggs
