i am on day 7 with my 20 eggs. they are all SQ chicks and i bought a few fairly expensive BCM eggs and noticed today, when i went to candle a few that one of the BCM eggs was set in the incubator pointy side up. my light for candling isn't too bright and these eggs are as dark as chocolate so i could hardly see anything. i could see that the air cell was nicely formed and attached. but does this do damage to the embryo?

If the air cell is in the big end of the egg, it should be fine if you put the egg pointy end down. Day 7 isn't very far into the process. If the air cell looks okay, then it should be just fine.

I had a difficult time with the Marans eggs to the point that I couldn't tell which end was the pointy end because they're supposed to be oval eggs and some are. Candling was impossible. So I just laid those eggs on their sides.
