Eggbid Issues

If BYCBid.com would be free, thats a good thing too! However, its the set up, without any chatters. Sometimes chatters serves a purpose but it sometimes can drag on for a while.

Glad folks like to sell on Ebay or Eggbid and BYC Sales. Its a good thing all around!

I agree, I feel like there are plenty of options for people to choose from now...chatty auction...come here...no communication auction...go to eggbid or ovabid...then eBay is somewhere in between them all.

I like that I can choose which style I like and for now, I like it here, so I come here, but if something I wanted was on the other sites, I'd go there for the purchase, but...I haven't needed to since coming here. Another thing about this site the way it is, people seem to be more open about their sells/purchases, I feel more informed here. On eggbid, unless I heard about the seller here, I really have no good idea because their feedback system is screwy. On eBay, inexperienced egg buyers and sellers tend to skew the comments. example: lots of first time buyers/sellers may be prone to give way too high or low a rating because they don't know specifics about what they are selling/buying. I know that shipping eggs is a crap shoot and unless I had something stand out as intentional, I would never rate a seller lower due to the hatch rate, whereas I read comment after comment on eBay where peoples expectations are ridiculous. Also, some buyers will not take feedback without retaliating. I feel all of this is because everyone is so hidden and so it's easy to write offensive ratings, because what's the real repercussion...no one really knows you.

This site is the best of both worlds, people that come here are here because they raise chickens, ducks, quail, etc... I feel comfortable that most buyers/sellers here know what they are getting into with a sell/purchase. The open sells here tend to make people more laid back and I know I feel good about that too.

Again, if it changes, I'll still come here, I'm just surprised people want it to change. Maybe I'm one of "those" people that don't adapt well to change

, when I know I like something I have a tendency to think that nothing could improve it, I could be wrong...wishy washy much?!?!? HA!

The major reasons I would like an auction set up is:

1. It would stop the bumping and chatting. Some people like it, I dont. By BYC rules, a seller is supposed to edit the original post, but they never do. Its always a bump, then some more chatter, or if theres no bid, its I Cant Believe There No Bids, or Just 2 Hours Left, or Ill Add 2 Dinosaur Eggs. All it does is bump up to the top.

2. The BEST part of an auction set up would be timing. You will know immediately when an auction is ending, because the auction ending soonest will be at the top. It will make it so much easier to see whats for sale, how long you have to bid, when its ending.

It could take the place of the hatching eggs buy/sell forum. You list your eggs, starting bid, shipping price, any particulars, when it ends, and thats that. If you have any questions, PM the seller. The seller can always edit or modify the auction, as long as theres no bids already. If you dont want it as an auction, just a sale, then list it as a Buy It Now, the way Ebay does. I really think it would simply that forum, and would force seller to conform a bit more to BYC rules, ie no bumping, list your state, edit your original post, no chat.

A lot of valid points were raised in this thread. Somehow it still rubs me the wrong way that an Eggbid user has problems on EGGBID and somehow we end up with auction software here and no doubt fees in the future. How does HER problem on Eggbid end up with everyone here paying fees? Mark my words, it WILL happen.

Tha last post was from Terrie the Admin.

This one is from Terrie the Seller. In no way does my post reflect the opinions of the owners of BYC, it's staff or subsidiaries. It is just what my personal thoughts are.

I think a good way for it to work might be to have auction software that works like ebay and all with the bidding, no bumping, etc, just selling period. And each listing lasts a week and you can't list the same thing overlapping. You can have an auction or a buy it now. Each listing could be a small amount.

Then for those who want to pay an additional small fee, it could be worked that there is a few spots available in each section that are stickied and always visible at the top.
The fee could be a straight up extra $5 or $10 for a week to be at the top.

I would gladly pay a fee to have my aprons, etc more visible.

I think it is only fair that if we use someone's website constantly to sell our wares then we should pay. It's advertising; not doing so is taking advantage.

This is true, it is selfish to expect BYC to perform a service and get nothing monetary in return. As long as the fees are reasonable then I think all should be happy. Feebay fees are not reasonable, and the gestapo tactics, and the hostile environment makes it a terrible place to sell. It is time their plug was pulled by competition. Why shouldn't BYC make a profit and provide a service doing that.
