I believe our Cornish cross hen that is kept as a pet is about to be a year old in a few months and she hasn’t laid any eggs yet but yesterday at about 4pm she wasn’t able to walk and she had a big hard lump which I assume is a egg that is stuck. It has been over 24 hours and I have never felt with this before but I read that she could die after 48 so I am worried I have given her several rosin salt baths I also gave her electro lights and oyster shell but she seems to be the same any ideas?? Should I be worried??

Can you gently insert a olive oil or Vaseline coated finger into her vent, not too hard, to feel if an egg is stuck? She definitely sounds eggbound. If she is, the only thing I've had good success with is applying oil to the vent as gently as possible and seeing if she can do it on her own. Keep an eye on her drinking and eating habits.

Make sure after those relaxing salt baths to apply some olive oil to her vent just to ensure she does not get too dry, as sometimes those types of baths can dry out that type of tissue.

It’s well over 24 hours now and I’m starting to get worried… how much of my finger do I have to use?

This one is even more detailed. It describes the procedure for inserting your finger to check. Although this may be unnecessary if you can feel a hard lump in your hens oviduct area from an external palpitation. Do what you are comfortable with.

It wasn’t eggbound!! But I don’t know if that’s better or worse I haven’t had a chicken go eggbound yet so I didn’t really know what to look out for but when I looked it up it looked nothing like it. Now I don’t know what it is but I have posted a YouTube short on how she’s been walking just now

Personally it looks like she's outgrown her legs which is not uncommon for Cornish cross. They're generally predisposed for gaining a lot of weight. The concern I had was the outstretched wing, I have read Mareks has that as a symptom, but I have tagged someone else who has been on the forum longer than I and they hopefully can help or tag someone who can.

You said she has a big hard lump in her abdomen? Is this still there? Did you insert a finger into the vent to feel for an egg?
Does she have any other symptoms? If it were me, I would immediately bring her inside to a warp place. Will she drink fluids? Does she have any other symptoms rather than the walking? What do the bottoms of her feet look like?
What do you feed her, how much and how often?
I hope we can help you figure out whats going on.

I would think that it may be a problem with her legs or possibly Mareks. But since meat chickens have very weak legs if they are kept past the age for processing, it may be her legs, since you have not felt a stuck egg in her vent. I would try to see a vet if possible. Keep her separated and close to food and water.
