Eggbound hen?? Frequently laying down, drooping wings, gasping

Looks like mating behavior, as you can see in the video the Tom is interested in her. It is highly likely he has already mated her which is why she seems off to you. The first few times are traumatic for the hen. There mating is quite intense and last a LOOOONG time. I noticed as you went to pet her she tensed slightly, if you pet her but give her a good rub with your fingers on her back likely she will drop to the ground and spread her wings.

I personally think she is fine and you should have some fertile eggs soon.

I didn't know if maybe it might be helpful to see pics of my hen squatting and displaying mating behavior so I thought I would post you a few pics. If what you see in your hen is similar that she is probably just maturing, if its not similar then maybe we all can help you figure out what else it might be.

These were taken just a few mins ago
Here she laid down by me

Here I pet her and she spread her wings more
Here she is "waiting" for me lol

I walked away and tom moved in

Hes thinking hes got a chance

Here he tries, and promptly fails lol. She got up and walked away

This is what my two are doing. Thank you both sooooo much!! I feel better.

She does drop if I pet her back and she spreads her wings.

I really appreciate it. And all the pics :) your turkeys are lovely!

I freaked out the first time I saw this and actually called my vet who said I should bring her in, lol. If you want to rule out egg binding, just put on a glove, lube up and check inside her vent. When I've done this with mine I have to stick my finger about an inch in and I can usually feel it if it's there. If I can feel one I give them about 300mg calcium per kg.

Your turkey's mate with all that snow around?
Mine won't mate until well after the snow is gone.
Usually get my first hatch happening in the middle to late may, long way to go still.

I am in no STATE, unless you count my state-of-mind.
I am north of the 49th parallel.

At the 49th parallel from a point on the ground at this latitude,
the sun is above the horizon for 16 hours, 12 minutes during the summer solstice
and 8 hours, 14 minutes during the winter solstice.
