Eggless

One of my hens goes to the nesting box to "lay" an egg but she Not producing any. Is this normal during winter time?

Maybe she is just investigating the nest... Sometimes they do this when they are soon to lay.
She's checking things out, because she knows it will soon be time... Practice runs...
