I've had to cage off my eggplants to keep the chickens from eating them. Chickens love Eggplant Lasagna too.

Remember they can have the fruit but the plant is recommended to either not feed or feed in extreme moderation as it is part of the nightshade family. Though the nightshade family doesn't appear to affect birds as much as humans.
