EGGS-A-POPPING!! WHY???

I too would betcha anything it's from freezing.

The coolth (well, in my family it's a word

) from the freezer comes out from an opening at the top rear wall of the fridge and sinks down to keep the whole fridge cool (I am assuming you have a top-freezer unit?).

When the freezer compressor is not running, then yes the bottom shelf of the fridge is the coolest -- but when the compressor kicks on (you hear that hum), the coldest air is entering the fridge right above the back of the top shelf. I bet that, for whatever reason, your eggs are periodically getting enough of a 'waterfall' of frigid air that they start to freeze, crack open, and then when the compressor kicks off they thaw again so they're cracked but liquid when you check 'em.

Try putting them on another shelf, and not along the back wall. Also it might be interesting to put an accurate max/min thermometer, if you have one, in the location the eggs are now in.
