Eggs Already???

This is Babette (Babs), she’s my little olive egger who weighs less than 16oz. I got her on March 6th and my guess is that she was probably 3-4 days old.

Last week she decided I was her person and all she wanted to do was snuggle. This morning I went to clean out the hen house and found this! Babs’ first egg!!! I have never, ever had a young pullet lay an egg at less than 6 months.

At just over 15 weeks old, that is very early! She looks bright red, though, so it's definitely possible. Good girl, Babs!

That's a pretty cool color! Congrats! I tried for an Olive Egger last year but ended up with a cockerel. I have 4 this year that I know are pullets and should be getting my first olive egg in the next few weeks.
