Hey all! I have 3 GB, 2 BR & 2 GLW that are all not yet laying. However.... my one sweetheart GB Ruby is close. She has the bright comb & waddles. Has the famous squat when you try to pet her and has been so ridiculously friendly you'd think she was a dog.

Anyway, Ruby is the only 1 of the 7 having these signs. Will she speed up the others or will they just lay when they lay. They are all the same age, BTW....

Don't think she will speed up the others, sorry.

BTW, nice avatar!

I've been looking every day, 2-3 times a day for the last week since she's been showing signs. Haven't found a hint of an egg anywhere till today. I thought the same thing on the size. Wasn't expecting it to be that large. It's longer but more narrow than a store bought large egg....

You'll get all kinds of rather funky looking, soft or thin shelled, huge double yolked eggs...especially at first.
Have you seen the weird egg thread?

Out of our 3 laying hens, only 1 sings the egg song. She wants the world to know when she lays an egg. We have a rooster and he always sings along with her. Congrats on your first egg.
