Hello there!

First time hatcher, long time chicken owner. So I have one of those little giant foam incubators with 13 chicken eggs in it. We had our cost hatch today and another has pipped.

The problem I am seeing is that the newly hatched chick is bumbling into the other eggs, making them roll over. I don't want those chicks to get confused and move in their eggs because they are already in position to hatch. For the time being, I have surrounded baby chick's area with the pieces of sponge I am using to increase the humidity to keep her from knocking into the others.

My question is, what are the normal methods for preventing this from happening?

I have hatched chickens in the incubator like that many times and this is completely normal! It actually encourages the other chicks inside the eggs to get out faster. I know what you have read Because I read the same thing about the confusion, but do not worry! It's completely normal and it will not affect their hatch.

I don't like watching the hatched chicks move the eggs around
I pull the hatched ones out pretty quickly and put them in a warm brooder.

Thank you! Also, the first chick hatched early this afternoon. It will be bedtime soon, and I was wondering if they need any water in there with them? She still hasn't fluffed up yet, so I just planned to leave her in there overnight

Do you have a brooder warm and ready?
I'd move her asap.
The quicker they start eating the better. Be right back with a link to a good read as to why.

So all can see:
How soon do they need water? Humidity levels are around 49%... temp 99.5. She hasn't had any water yet. Will she be okay without it overnight?

They will be just fine until they fluff up:) they can go for 48 hours without it according to reading. At this point, fluffing up is more important
