Eggs are here :)Paganbirds and MagsC's hatching thread!!UpdateMarch16!

Maggie, I think you are crazier than I. The Cayugas and the chickens are due Mon/Tue. I hope I hear some serious peeping going on Monday morning! I am getting my chicks from McM Tues or Weds too. I will set the eggs for daughter's 2nd grade on the 25th. I can't wait for that! Here is the line-up for that:
Lemon Blue Cochins from rarefeathers
EEs and Polish from Atlchick
Salmon Faverolles and Golden Cuckoo Marans from Pasofinofarm
and Silver Laced Wyandottes from pamperedpoultry
Jealous much?

I hope we have a great hatch with those for the kids' sakes as well as mine.
I think it should be fairly easy to get rid of the extras from that bunch, don't you?

I have to leave to get groceries but wanted to say that the eggs from Sheila (easttxchick) got here today! 5 of them, and they are either Lakenvelders or Lakenvelder crosses.
I will set them tomorrow morning.

I dont know if my OEGB eggs got here today because my daughter is picking up the mail at the po after school.
If not, I will have to make sure to get over there before 10 am tomorrow.
So what is happening with everyones chicks and incubating projects? Theri, how are your new chickies doing and have you candled the ducks/silkies again yet? I am looking forward to having Anconas so hope I get at least a couple. Yes, I know, my expectations are so very high, lol.

I had my dates off a little, not so good at counting days, I guess. Could be why I got pregnant? NOT.
The 21st and 30th days for the chickens and ducks respectively is Wednesday. I candled last night for the last time. I think I lost one of the Silkies, but all the rest had movement. As for ducks, I think we are still on board for 4. I am going to lockdown Sunday and add some water then. Cross those fingers, and I will do the same for you.

I hope that the chicks do better than the bunnies, they have all died now.

Oh, I am so sorry about the bunnies!!!

I KNOW things will get much better when its not cold or like right now, so damp.
My only suggestion about the silkies is watch them closely if they are late because so many of the ones I have incubated seem to get stuck in the egg somehow, even when I have kept the temps/humidity perfect. I have heard people say if their skulls are very vaulted, sometimes that interferes with hatching? But then there are others that have no trouble hatching them at all.
I have decided if I get silkie chicks, I am probably going to have to order chicks instead of eggs, though I might try every now and again.
I am excited about my cochin banty eggs....well, I am looking forward to them ALL but besides silkies, I think my next favorite breed are cochins, banty or standards.

I am getting some Cochins in next weeks' batch from MM. My middle child is anxious to get them. I hate to lose babies like I have, but there isn't much you can do when they don't stay together in a nest or one dies and chills the rest other than putting a heat lamp in, but I would be afraid of fire with all the fur that flies around in there when there a nesting litters. We will have more again soon.

What kind of cochins are you getting? I have the black banty cochin eggs but have also entered a couple of auctions for cochin eggs.
If I win, I win, if I dont, I dont. I sure dont get too worked up about it.

BUTTON QUAIL ARE HATCHING!!!!! So far one little button out...I have about as much luck with buttons as I do most of the time with guineas so I hope more hatch.
