eggs are not hatching

400

I put them in there new home today

How long do I keep them under the red light and inside? Also do I feed them now ?

You can offer them food and water. Just be sure to add marbles or rocks to the waterer to be sure they don't drown.

I have a chick who was hatched yesterday and is already eating and drinking.

They can live off the nutrients they absorbed from their yolk sac for 24-48 hours. Some even say up to 72hrs. So if they don't eat right away, don't get too concerned.

Congrats on the hatch! Cute little peeps.

sweet babies, congrats. You keep them under the light for a few weeks. Basically you start at 95, then 90, 85, etc, 5 degree drop per week of age. Once you reach the ambient temperature they are good to go. If you keep it to warm they take longer to feather out.

Yes, you can supply them with food and water, be sure to dip their beaks in the water and if you poke at the food with your finger they usually rush over to see what you have and they will start eating on their own.

Make sure they have medicated chick starter crumbles :-) the farm/feed stores carry it.
Too precious! Congrats!

Thanks everyone!! Chicks are still doing good. I am wondering how you control to temp with a red light?

I have the light on one end of the brooder so the chicks can get away from it. I am using a giant Plastic storage bin with no lid.

Ok so I don't have to control the temp as long as I give them an area to get away from the light?
