Eggs arrived in sad conditions...

I don't candle until day 5-6 and I usually won't discard anything until almost two weeks in — I think it's really tough to know if you have a problem until you're at least a week into the hatch, as I've had some hatches develop VERY fast and others be a bit sluggish.

For what it's worth, with shipped eggs I usually have at least a few that make it all the way to lockdown and never hatch. I've started opening them up to try to figure out what's going on, but honestly I haven't worked it out. Usually by hatch day the air cell is where it ought to be, although the chick is often not oriented properly toward it. With some hatches, I've used the turner (side-roller) immediately. With others, I've let them rest point-down for up to FIVE days before setting them in the turner. Doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

I have a new cabinet incubator that tilts the eggs back and forth but keeps the pointed end down, and I'm curious if this is going to help.

Day 3. I see development and with a keen eye can see some little veins forming, especially on silkie A, B, and E. The other silkies I'm thinking might not be developing but it's still very early so not losing hope yet.

The Brahma eggs, however, I see nothing changing. I'm sure it's just the density of the shell and color difference from the silkies. But Brahma D has the detached air cells and I'm not sure that one will make it. 🤔

Vascular systems and visibly beating hearts in A, B, & Brahma A... clear development in D, and Brahma C.

Brahma D was a loss. Blood ring has formed today and no devopment to be seen. That had the detached air cell.

Silkie C is hard to see. Definitely seeing changes but the shell must be dense. It's also the smallest egg.

So aside from the 4 lost in transit, so far only one egg loss from my end. My kids are loving watching the growth and I am absolutely in love already. 🥰

My last shipment of Ayam Cemani eggs came wrapped in tissues in a carton a bit like that, but they'd nestled the carton in packing paper.

No breakages, but to be honest I think they got lucky! They didn't include any extras and I would have given them a negative review if I hadn't received the number of unbroken eggs I'd paid for.

Omg! After the first time i would’ve been done with that seller! I wanted to order eggs online but so many people said that often they come broken so i backed off. I’m so sorry
The problem is he asked me to send him pictures of my snake eating the eggs via WhatsApp and we actually started getting quite friendly and I was looking to be a long term/repeat customer. I felt so awful about it, especially after I got annoyed when I put in a repeat order, paid and he messaged me a while later saying he'd forgotten my address. I don't always check WhatsApp and wondered why he didn't refer back to the messages I'd sent on the original selling platform, or as a seller don't you have that info on an invoice or something? He offered me the last batch saying he was selling the birds. I paid one last time hoping it might be better but nope. I began to feel guilty like I was trying to scam him or something. Very sad.

I found sellers on eBay though so my ferrets/ snakes are fed and I have hatched 3 babies
