Eggs but no song

We have been getting eggs from at least one of our chickens everyday this week. We were excited to hear the egg song but we havent been home when she was laying. Today we came home from the store and only saw 7 birds out in the run. We peeked in the door and saw a chicken butt in the nest box pushing out an egg so we shut it to give her some privacy. When she emerged from the coop she didnt even make a sound like she didnt just pop out an egg. We checked the box and she did indeed just lay. No song though. Do they learn it over time?

My hens almost never make a song when laying. It's almost always silent

Some of mine sing, some don't. Some sing before laying some sing after laying. Some sing when another hen lays and egg. I sure youll get the song out of them eventually.

Thanks guys. I wasnt sure if its an every hen sort of thing. Maybe she is just shy. I know i wouldnt announce it if i had something like that come out of me.

Yup even I do it to. Sometimes all 4 roosters join in!

Oh yeah! Our roo was a huge instigator. Then he'd escort the girl from the coop to the safe zone while whispering sweet things in her ear

Nope, I don't have one, still get the song. Some days are just quieter than others. Some girls too. Is she your only layer?
