I found my first pullet egg yesterday, on the floor of the run. It was nice and hard, beautifully shaped. Today I found 2 broken eggs on the floor of the coop. They weren't hardened, but I think they had just been laid. I'm not sure it's the chickens, as the eggs didn't really seem to be eaten, and most of the shells were still there. I just got my nesting area set up and it's not finished yet, I (mistakenly) thought I still had another week before I had to worry about it. If I have any predators it has to be something small, however I did notice a hole about 2" in an upper corner of the coop that I had missed which I need to cover. (Predator-proofing a chicken coop is like baby-proofing a house!) I've just switched to layer feed, which has extra calcium, I will get hole patched today, nest boxes finished. Any other suggestions?
