Wow, that brought back memories Davaroo, my mom always made creamed eggs on toast for my dad. He used to work the 4-12 shift and when he came home from work, she would make it for him. I remember being allowed to stay up during the summer and he would share with me. It was always such a special thing to be able to stay up late and hang with my parents. I loved it then and the memories are sweeter now with age.

My Dad was talking about those kind of cheap dinners and they also had milk bread on the side too.

Not only they had plenty of milk (his father works for a dairy) and eggs (mother had chickens), that was what they had when the hens are laying too much eggs for the family of 8 kids. It fed them all without much leftovers!
