Eggs for hatching

Leghorns are great layers but you will need an incubator or a broody hen to hatch their eggs. They rarely go broody.

What are your goals for your flock? Why do you want to hatch eggs? Do you want chickens only for eggs? For meat and eggs? Just to have chickens around? I have a mixed breed flock, and get plenty of eggs for hatching, and out of those eggs get roosters for meat. Some chickens do produce better and for a longer time than others, but any healthy hen will lay well for at least a year, and if fertile, those eggs should hatch.
