Eggs from Ireland?

Wow, very interesting! I'm going to Greece for two weeks at the end of September and Greece is END free, may need to seriously look into bringing back eggs, very, very interesting...

I used to be the agent for a local aquarium society for importing live fish. I remember that we declared no commercial value on the fish, and that they were strictly for personal use as a hobbiest keeper. That was so that US Customs couldn't get import tax on them. I also recal that, for live fish at least, Customs was unable to hold them for inspection because they were fragile and needed to be put into aquaria ASAP. We had to pay about $60 for a F&W inspection, present the completed forms to Customs and we were on our way. I was basically doing all the legwork that an expeditor would do. I had to import through Detroit (I'm in Cleveland) because that's where the nearest F&W inspector is located. It was possible to have F&W come to Cleveland, but the Feds ask $160/hr, min 2 days. If you get your own import license, it becomes easier. I expect that the reason the Icelandic transaction was so expensive was the use of paid importers and expeditors. You need to notify F&W in advance of when the shipment will arrive to schedule and inspection, no last minute stuff with them. They're the Feds, and they march to their own drum. Good Luck!
