Eggs Getting Smaller and Lighter?

A comparison of the last four eggs (L to R earliest to latest):

A side-by-side of the latest to the earliest. Notice a slight size difference and a huge color difference.

I know with absolute certainty that all four eggs came from the same pullet. All eggs before the latest shown here (9 total) were the same color as the darkest one and they were getting progressively bigger in size.

Hi, have you learned the cause of this?

That is huge colour difference.

I am interested in the size issue. My well established hens are laying eggs 10g lighter than usual and my barney pullets are laying bantom size eggs that just aren't getting bigger. My marans eggs are getting lighter but I think that's normal after continuous laying. Also I am getting fewer eggs. The only thing i can think of is that we are under attack from biting insects. I'm on the Australian east coast. Sandflys - I think they are called noseeums in other countries.

Cheers

Well we have no biting insects this time of year, it's freezing here. I never did figure it out, but she's back to laying again and although small, they are all the light brown they use to be.
