I don't know, it may not hurt. Well, this is what happened to me ....
I had 2 groups of eggs set 4 days apart. Nothing special, just some mutts ...
Then, I forgot which group was to be first. Sure enough, I put the wrong ones in lockdown. So, when I put the earlier ones in lockdown they hatched the next day. And the second group (that went into lockdown too early) hatched out, but I had one blind chick, and 2 with an eye deformed (one eye looked glued shut). I imagine the eye problems are due to the extra humidity for days in advance.

So, that's my experience.

wow, I totaly forgot about the humididty

I am using the dry incubation method and good thing I am cus the humidity is around 60%. what is it supposed to be when they are hatching?

This is my first attempt...I am struggling with the humidity.....

so I think I will be right without having to add water. and when I was talking about lockdown before I just meant putting them in the egg cartons and stopping turning them. sooo, not turning them a day or two before I am supposed to lockdown wont hurt will it?

1ernurse, What's happening?

yes, usually day 18.
Last time when I hatched in the cartons a few piped on the bottom and died, I don't want that to happen again so I am going to put them in the egg cartons a day earlier so that they have more time to get in position so they don't pip at the bottom and die.

I used egg cartons, too. Then I noticed I wasn't getting as good of hatches. I don't know why. Maybe just because they were shipped eggs. Last few hatches I went back to the old way, and lay they down on their sides. I just figure, that is the way the mama hen has them, so I will too.
