and I thought the same thing but the sussex breeder in Tasmania said that he crossed a sussex with a Rhode island red and got a bird that mainly looked like a light sussex but with gray/black flecks down it's back ( all of mine have this ) and I can't remember what colour legs he said his had but the light sussex should always have white legs and mine ( well all but 1 ) have orange legs. So I either have all crosses or two crosses and one bad quality light sussex.

Do they lay well? Sometimes, that is all that matters. I inherited two black sexlinks from the neighbors- they lay up a storm and are talkative and FUNNY.

well, today is day ( night, again

) 13. seven days till they should hatch

oh yeeeaaahh. I only trned the eggs twice today

we were away for most of the day so I only fit in two turns, but I will turn the five times tomorrow, to make up for it

also when I came home the incubator was 39

Wow, how time flies .... only another week! I will put my Icelandics into lockdown tomorrow. It's getting close!

OH, Teale, I almost forgot to tell you ....
I went to a poultry show yesterday, and I bought a trio of black Silkies. They are just beautiful! I will get pictures in the next day or so. How is your old Silkie gal doing? Is she still hanging around?

congratulations on you black silkies Kathy is this how your going to get through your 5 months your not going to hatch chicks your going to buy them all up and ready instead

really happy for you though ive never heard of a chicken show before i dont know if they have them in england i know they have a chicken show at the county and country shows but there like once a year and none are close enought to go to really think the closest is a 4 hour journey
i would love to go see one though may look into it and see if there are any closer
