Eggs hatching super early? What in blazes.....

I'll be interested to see how this Colombian Wyandotte does. CW #1 was broody a couple of weeks ago, and she broke when I moved her. CW #2 took a floor level nest, and has stuck tight through my renovations around her to make the area secure from intrusion. I need to add more bedding and remove a tipped nest box divider, but hate to disturb her nest, now that she has real eggs under her.

Oh, and my biggest sign that something is way messed up- she got off her nest this morning (as usual) to go eat and drink. This mama never does that once eggs are hatching.

Once I let a broody stay on eggs, I try to mark the eggs. Sharpie marker on the fat end, so I always know where to look. They will rub pencil marks off. Its amazing how far they can move eggs sometimes!
Is it possible that she was hiding eggs you didn't know about?

Yup, I always mark eggs immediately.

If that happened then somehow they moved at least two of hen #1s eggs and put two in that weren't hers.

Are the eggs all the same breed?
At least if any eggs get left from some hatching early, you have plenty of broodies to pass them to.
(I had to turn off my incubators because I have so many girls brooding right now. Its ridiculous! lol)

All bantam Cochin eggs.

That's what I said. I'll just give them to the next hen due. We have 6 broody now. Two of those have 9 week olds and one has 5 week olds. All broody again. Insane!!

Well, we're now up to 4 chicks. 3 hatched underneath my mama that's not due until the 7th. There is absolutely no way that three of my other hens eggs got under this hen since she never had that many.

I'm beyond confused. I was pulling eggs every day until they started to sit so no understanding of how these chicks are hatching over a week early. They wouldn't even be all the way developed but I'm at a loss.

Yup. I can see a couple day but the first one was 9 days early. They couldn't possibly be developed that early. I am extremely careful about marking eggs and such so.....I don't know.

You sound like me. I get almost OCD about it, so I hope you figure something out! Lol
