Eggs have tough membranes

Please help. The eggs are wonderful, but when it comes to hard boiling, the shells don't peel off so well, leaving an ugly, torn up mess of a deviled egg. Is there anything I can do?

I have 5 free range birds, sexlinks and RIR's. Feeding them regular scratch from the feed store. The shells are pretty thick.

I don't have an answer for you but have noticed my EE's eggs have tough membranes. I feed all the chickens the same feed, they are the only ones with the tough membranes.

Fresh eggs are harder to peel than older eggs. Here's a thread that has some solutions. Good luck.
