Eggs hot days

Hey nightrider, we live N. MS, and have the same heat/humidity as y'all. I gather eggs once a day in the evening and sometimes, not for 2 days and I have never had a problem with them being bad. HTH.

Thanks for the replies. I wont worry about it anymore.

There is something wonderful about eggs. They can be in stasis for a few days while the hen lays a clutch. Then when she sits to hatch them, they "kick in" and start to develop (if you have a rooster). Consequently your eggs should be okay even if they are in the nest all day in the Arkansas heat. Aren't hens the most amazing creatures!

For your info I had about 25 white leghorn layers a few years ago . Some were agile and flew up into the hay loft and laid eggs up there . This was mid summer and the barn has a tin roof . Hot .

I found the eggs maybe three weeks later , about 25 in a clutch, some were discolored from the heat . We kept them in the fridge and my wife broke them into a dish to check them before using.

They were all good. Eggs are tough.
