Eggs in incubator 8/22. Anyone else putting eggs in?

Well I had the power go out for a second time. This time it only lasted 5 hours without power.

The sad part is I was more worried about my eggs then I was with my flooding basement, or my cold stuff in the fridge going warm.

All I know is with this day, if I get any to hatch they will be miracle chickens.

Well... mine were set 8/23, and here's a picture of one of the eggs. I think it looks promising, no? Sorry the photo isn't that clear. I'm still working on that...

Day 10 for me , left 11 out of 25 shipped Silkie eggs, 8 blood rings, 6 nothing.

The others look promising saw some moving others?? but they were dark so will leave till day 18. Did you have any detached cells when candling, the 6 nothings were detached (now that I know what they look like).

Ayda, These eggs look pretty solid - only one yolk appears to move around more than I would like, and there isn't enough of an aircell for me to see how they are. When I candle on day 10, I expect I'll be seeing the air cell and if they are detached. Other candlers see things better than me, I'm still learning, and am not sure of what all I'm seeing. On my last shipment, I had one egg arrive crack, with a detached yolk, and of course it actually developed to day 5 or 6.

Is 11 out 25 shipped Silkie eggs about what you would call a decent hatch rate? I thought Silkie embryos were delicate, is that true? May their next 8 days of development be very good! Dark is

I'd keep it in there.

I think I see the red veining.

Anarchy, Hopefully the power outages will slow down your hatch rate, but not stop it. If you want horror hatching stories look for the "Will they hatch?" thread. I think you could join that club now.

Hope your flooding wasn't too bad!

I didn't realize Silkie eggs were that delicate:/ I of course chose to start with the difficult ones oh well!!!

Well, based on reading threads here, if you get 11 to hatch, you are a very good hatcher!

Bummer on the orp eggs! are they shipped also? What light do you use for candling, it must be a good'un!

I was thinking about all you guys with chooks in the oven when the storm rolled in...hope it all works out....i've got 18 that went in last week...the second time i've used an incubator. THey're due on Labor Day, i wanted them to hatch on a day me and my grandgirl can hang out and watch.

Debating if i can squeeze in another batch before it gets too cold...those Blue-Laced Red Wyandottes are gorgeous, and i love my Ameraucanas, want to try some actual Araucanas
