Eggs in Research

OH my, never had something like that. The amimal care at the universities I've been to pay very close attention to their animals. They treat mice with infected ear tags, and will notify as soon as even a toe becomes red.

As for intelligent design. I can't say I agree because complexity does not mean better. If design was intelligent, why would our genomes be so large for the tiny amount of info stored in them vs simple archea that are still thriving well with very compact genomes? The tree of life is an old idea and is more of a web starting likely from LUCAS (last universal common ancestral state) with "big bangs" of diversity due to bottlenecks.

Here's a good review on the topic of evolution that I think is very well written:

But alas, there are many views. I'm from a bioengineering and now Molecular and Cellular Biology background. :p

Before we get started with this possible debate, let me warn you of something: I get very into creation vs. evolution debates. You have been warned.

Maybe God didn't make them smaller because it would be easier for people to believe in them. If we had so much evidence that there wouldn't need to be faith than faith would be pointless. Okay I'm confusing myself a little. But if God knows everything then out finite minds can't comprehend how his mind works. Okay sorry about going too much into theology, I'm sure you'd rather have hard scientific facts.

My SO lived in Europe, and he said they never had the problem with evolution that America does. I think America is a little too enamored of the democratic process, because many of us seem to think science can be voted on. I look forward to a more science conscious era. I feel very sorry for the students who are led to believe ID is a valid argument . . . their educators are doing them a disservice, and I hope they'll eventually see their mistake.

I think there needs to be a thread that's just a large compilation of articles about chickens in science. I'd love to know the scope of impact these birds have on the scientific community, but all the focus seems to be on the mammals of our world . . . which makes sense, since people are mammals, but I just know there have to be more chickens that are out there, helping us to understand our world a little better.

Were you there when evolution happened? Don't say that it's happening today because if it really happens over millions of years, you wouldn't be able to see it happen.
We have the account of creation written in the Bible. But you don't believe that so... neither of us know how our theories happened. But we both think we're right. We should agree to disagree to not break the forum rules. Even though I'd LOVE to argue with you.
