Eggs left outside in a BLIZZARD

Even leaving a delivery attempted notice in this particular severe weather wont help. This weather is BAD. Are you sure you could even get to the PO tomorrow? I dont know how rural you are, but I have friends in NY who dont have a shot of getting to town right now for a day or two, if not more. I have a feeling no matter what the PO did in this case it would have been wrong.

I would expect the mailman to use common sense and put a delivery notice in the mailbox instead of leaving perishable eggs hanging in freezing weather.

Couldn't agree with you more, "Walkingwolf!!!"

Hi Tracy,

Yes the box was impecably packed. The label says. Fragile!!! Live embryoHatching eggs

I know the postman has a difficult job. The weather was not the postperson's fault. I am just trying to figure out the best way to rewarm these beautiful EE eggs and get them under my broody. She's a lovely girl who has be setting on unfertilzed eggs for almost a week now. My poor girl. I will set them and candle in a 4-5 days and see what we've got.

Please, please find another thread to post. You are not helping. And I need help with this situation. These are God'sliving creatures we are talking about.

This is my first egg delivery, my first hatch. I can see by your number of posts and the beautiful birds on your page that you are more experienced than I. I am learning and looking for support, which I thought was the purpose of this site. iPlease do not post if you do not want to share POSITIVE info, which I am sure you have tons of. Peace.

I do not condone what the mailperson did, but unless you are willing to file a claim with the PO...then what else can be done?

This should be brought up to the PO, but I have to agree, with the weather the way it is, it's very dangerous for the person to walk out of their truck. Again, I do not condone their actions or thought-processes...but ranting on the board isn't going to increase the hatchability of your eggs or get you a refund.

I totally get where you're coming from. I really think they'll be ok. If the rest of the journey wasn't too rough on them. You have to remember they've been in unheated cargo holds, in the back of unheated delivery trucks and finally in the mailman's vehicle. This time of year is really hard on shipped eggs.

I was wondering about the labeling because if it just said "live embryos" he may have thought they were already packaged on/in dry ice.

Crossing fingers that your eggs are fine, but for future I would get a PO box so you can pick them up from a post office close a route you travel. I am going to do it. Not just for eggs but the post man left my wife's checks sitting on top of the box this month and they were stolen. This was just STUPID. My father was a postman until the day he died but he had better sense than this. Her whole identity is now at risk because of one incredibly dumb person.

I've heard you can cover cracks with wax. Does anyone know if this works?

You don't have to get a PO box to pick your packages up. Just ask the mailman for a delivery instructions form and check the box that says leave no parcels. They'll hold them at the PO and notify you.
