Eggs made someone sick????? VINDICATED! update 4/14/10

I can eat store bought eggs fine, I get sick with my duck eggs, Terribly! My chicken eggs I can eat when I bake them in recipes, but if I eat just a sunny side up egg, I'm sick! I've been told it's allergies to the eggs, so that would be my guess with him as well!

How ironic is that...I'm already allergic to the feathers, why not the eggs too!

I can eat them when I bake them in other food, but over easy, scrambled...can't stomach them.

Edit: When I want to eat a good farm-fresh egg, I just have to make sure I'm off the rest of the day at work.

Was he the only one in the family that ate the eggs? If there were others they really cna't be trashing your eggs so to speak. Maybe he is just sensitive to something or did get a flubug.

Just so you guys know.....Free RN advise.....

If a "cooked" or even "slightly cooked" egg has enough bacteria to make you sick, you would smell it before your body would react to it.

The digestive enzymes in your stomach juices would neutralize the bacteria in a spoiled egg unless it was EXTREMELY full of bacteria. By that time, the smell would be putrid and you would possibly see froth or foam.

I would also be interested to know the time frame between when he ate it and when he got sick. If it were truely the eggs, he would have been retching within 20 minutes of ingesting the egg. If he had things coming out the other end then it was something he ate 4-6 hours prior to first having to run to the bathroom.

I wouldn't be worried if I were you. As long as your chickens are in good health and you haven't had anyone else say they got sick, its not your eggs but that guys diet.

They ate the eggs for supper and then he was sick the next day at work. She wasnt ill and neither was the 2 yo baby. She commented that hubby was leary about the eggs from the get go and thought they tasted bad so I still hold that he psyched himself into the illness.

I boiled a bunch of our smallest eggs over the weekend just to use them up and sent the whole batch to work with DH Monday. His coworkers went NUTS for them saying they taste so much better than store bought boiled eggs and ordered a bunch right away! HAHAHA it feels SO good to know it was just that one guy being a ninny!

I really really doubt your eggs had anything to do with your illness. Sounds like he isnt so gung ho about free range eggs, and maybe worked himself into a frenzy about it. Don't worry about it, just don't bother selling them eggs anymore, sounds like you already have a lot of interest in your eggs!

And yes- our eggs definitely do taste better than store bought, almost everyone I give my eggs to says so.

He could very well have gotten that nasty "bug" thats been going around! Bet thats what happened.
