eggs on the airplane?

Sorry -- if this is in the wrong spot --didn't know where to put it.
We are traveling to Kansas over the holidays and my parents would love to have a dozen of our ladies lovely eggs. Does anyone know, with all the regulations, if you can carry on a dozen eggs? I have been on hold with the airline forever and thought maybe one of you may have tried this --successfully or unsuccessfully!! Thanks for your help! kelly

Good question for sure, I am not sure if they would be harmed when passing through the X-ray machine so they could see that they are normal, they may swipe them with those wipes to detect explosives. I dought the presure changes in the plane would effect them either no way to tell really. But since they will only be used for eating some of these points' are Mute. the deal is will the TSA except them, I hope so but just not sure.

My room mate took home some eggs from DC to Colorado for her mom and didn't have any problems. I would check with your local airport to make sure, it sounds like one of those things where it depends on who is checking you in

I would ask them to email you the info if they say its ok and print it out and bring it with you.

As long as they don't contain over 3 oz of liquid, it should be fine!

I did this a while back! They had to check them out and looked at me like I was crazy! Just make sure that they look like eggs (I know that sounds silly) by putting them in a carton with EGGS written on it... I had no problems in baltimore, san antonio or houston.

And you carried them on the plane with you? Oh good -- I don't mind them looking at me like I am crazy as long as they let me and my colorful dozen through!!

are they just going to be fun for eating, or are they going to try to hatch them?

Yup, just for eating! My parents were here before the ladies were laying and now I know they would love to see the eggs!

I just wanted to update this thread, for folks wondering about carrying eggs on a plane with them when traveling. A BYC'er came to visit me recently and carried 18 fertile eggs on the plane, back with her. They were run through the x-ray and everything. They are still fertile and developing great in her incubator!
