Eggs stuck in the mail:( They arrived! *update* see post #12 page 2

I think I found the smelly one finally. I cracked it open and the inside was like a rotten hard boiled egg. Yuck! I hope not all of them are that way. I candled but I can't really see through the darker colored eggs at all.

ETA: I had one egg explode in the bator a few days after setting:( Thought I was gonna loose them all.

I have 2 chicks from my hangemhorns eggs:) These eggs were stuck in the mail in the heat last month when the post offices around here were closed for a few days due to the flooding. I'm so happy!

I had thrown out some of them due to them getting stinky.

and hadn't expected anything to happen. But I got 2 chicks

I'm waiting to see if I get anymore. They are due today but so far I see no pips on any of the other eggs yet. I wasn't expecting a thing to hatch after I lost so many due to them being rotten but it wasn't any fault the sender. Neither one of us knew the eggs would be stuck in the mail.

It's amazing to me on the one hand how eggs can be so fragile, and yet on the other hand, how resiliant!

Congrats on your little peeps!!

A couple of them were so I almost threw away all the eggs and now I am glad I did not or I would have thrown out these cute chicks.

So 4 chicks after all the problems is not a bad deal. I threw out the rest of the eggs from the other batch last night that had spent 7 days in the mail. Those were rotten so no chicks from them but when some of the first rotten ones looked hard-boiled I wasn't expecting anything only hoping not all of those ones were ruined. Not at all the shipper's fault though. They were packed well and sent Priority. It was just that right after they were sent mail in part of the state shut down for a few days due to the flooding. I went 2 days with no mail and had even called my post office to see if I could come pick them up and they didn't even have them yet the two days I got no mail. I also got 2 chicks out of my own hens eggs overnight:) Yippee!
