Eggs were lost in mail for 6 days!!

I have got them all in the incubator. I had ordered replacements when I realized there was something wrong and now my bator is FULL! I have actually got 3 of the eggs lying on top of eggs on the turner. The motor seems to be holding up fine. I thought that this would be ok since most birds will stack eggs in a nest to hatch them. The lady who sent me the ones that got lost a sending more out on monday so I need another bator stat! I want to make one out of styrofoam. Any suggestions.

I saw a great homemade bator on BYC that you could see through. I sure loved that idea. It was made out of a clear storage box. Have fun with all those peeps!

I just ordered my first two batches of eggs and the same thing with me. The first shipment the post office assured me the day before they would follow the shippers instructions for them to call me to pick them up. The next day I never got a call and looked and looked and finally saw them sitting on the corner of my porch!

The next shipment was suppose to get to me by last Friday and I didnt get them until Saturday afternoon and I dont see anything in those yet....not looking very good. I know the first shipment I will have a better hatch rate then some people Ive read on here, but out of 14 eggs, only four are developing and I so pray these hatch because I have been dying for these chickens. The last shipment out of 15, I see no life, but Im giving it another few days before I toss them. This chicken hatching business is so stressful!!!!!

I'm waiting on 6 black copper marans eggs due tomorrow and hopefully 6 aracauna eggs next tuesday.......I'm new at this......my first time and OMG, you have to worry even before you get them. I wish you luck.....maybe you will beat the odds and they will all hatch.

I'm the lady that got the incubated egg in my shipment and now have an *early* baby duckling! I do only shipped eggs and have had pretty good luck. I've only received a couple shipments where I got cracked eggs. I've never had a shipment get lost, I've had some delivered rather than being held at PO. With all of the variables I'm usually happy with a 50% hatch rate, which I usually get. I have had some groups of eggs not develop. I don't know if those were the result of poor packaging/handling or infertile eggs. I just figure its part of the concerns for shipped eggs. That said, I love getting in my eggs from different parts of the country and seeing how they do. Ihave some duck eggs from Washington DC that are growing right now. Very fertile! I've had eggs from close that didn't do well. Its all a combination of po and fertility and shipping practices. Enjoy!

I think especially if the box is marked fragile or eggs the post office likes to have fun

But I would still incubate and see, sometimes its amazing what eggs survive!
